If you have watched my juicing videos, you’ll know that I have the Omega J8006 Nutrition Center. Looking at the pictures above, you can be forgiven for thinking that these two juicers are the same machine. However this is not actually the case. It is true that just by looking at them it’s hard tell the difference. But you might be able to see that the juicer on the right has a handle built into its body. This is the J8006. The J8005 model has a flip up/flip down style handle. There are a few other differences between these two masticating juicers from Omega. As you would expect, the Omega J8006 is more expensive than the Omega 8005. But not by much. You should look on the Amazon website because this is a great place to compare prices and find the best deal. Sometimes they actually offer these machines for the same price!

Differences between Omega 8005 and Omega 8006

Both of these Omega juicers are very high quality appliances. The second difference has nothing to do with the physical machine. Instead it is to do with the warranty that comes with the device. The 8005 has a 10 year warranty while the 8006 has a 15 year one. Ten or fifteen years, is there really much of a difference? Both are a long time! For me personally, this difference is not worth any extra money. Both machines are less than $300 so getting 10 years of constant use for this sort of price is a great deal.

The third difference is to do with the parts. Both of these juicers are single auger style machines. This is the gear that rotates and is responsible for the juicing action of the machine. In the 8005 it is made of a standard plastic. However the Omega J8006′s auger is made from GE Ultem plastic. This is a patented material that is known for its strength and durability. The advantages of this are that it may well last longer but potentially more importantly, can be put under greater stress. I think that the Omega J8006 is the best juicer and that’s why I chose this model for myself.

One point to note is that depending upon where you buy your juicer from, there may be very little difference in price. Therefore you may elect to get the higher quality model. If you would like to purchase either of these machines then you can usually find the best price at the online retailer, Amazon. Just to make sure, check what price Omega are selling these units for on their homepage. It always amazes me that Amazon are somehow able to offer a better deal!

Omega J8006 Review

In this Omega J8006 review I want to tell you about the top of the range horizontal masticating juicer that Omega produce. I own this juicer and you can see just how easy it is to assemble in my video above. This model, while being the most expensive, is really not all that much more than the other machines in the Omega range. Is it better? A little, but the good news is that it does not cost you a lot more. As far as I am concerned, this is the best juicer in their horizontal masticating product line up.

I want to outline the features of this machine which make it the best juicer in the J8003/6 range. First of all, along with the Omega J8005 machine, it has the most attractive design. The bodies of these machines are made of an appealing black and chrome covered plastic design. The second thing that makes this model a little bit more expensive is the fact that it comes with a 15 year warranty. Finally, along with the Omega J8004 unit, the auger fitted in this appliance is made from the plastic, GE Ultem. This stronger material makes this machine perfectly usable in a commercial setting. In fact you may have noticed on of these machines in your local juice bar. If not, next time you go, keep an eye open for the machines that they use behind the counter.

Omega masticating juicers are perfect for juicing a huge number of fruits and vegetables. Their strong point is leafy green vegetables, hard fruits like apples and wheat grass. They can juice citrus fruits no problem but the reason why this kind of machine is not so good if you drink primarily this kind of fruit is that the preparation time would be quite long. Unlike machines with a citrus juicing function you would have to chop the skin off each piece of fruit individually which would take more time than just cutting an orange in half like you can with some other juicers. You can read more Omega juicer reviews to find out about all the machines in their range.

Check out this video, which shows me setting up my own Omega J8006 masticating juicer. This type of machine might seem complicated but as you will see, it is actually pretty simple once you have set it up a couple of times for yourself.

There is nothing to say that you can only have one juicing appliance. If you really get into the healthy lifestyle then it may be of use to have a few different units so that you can choose the most appropriate machine for the juice that you want to make. While I think that the Omega J8006 is a great product, you can save a few dollars if you go for an Omega J8003 instead. Do you really need a 15 year warranty? Just for your own peace of mind, for just a little bit extra, you get an extra 5 years on the warranty. Don’t forget, the J8006 (as well as the J8004) have the stronger GE Ultem auger. If you want the top of the range product then by all means you should get the J8006. But if you want the cheapest options, that is the J8003. Or if you are keen to get a chrome style juicer then check the price of the J8005. The vertical design like the Omega VRT350HD are well worth looking into as well. To find the lowest price Omega J8006, first of all I would check the Amazon website, they have the best prices for a great number of kitchen appliances. Compare their price with that offered on the official Omega website to see who has the best deal.

Choosing to buy an Omega J8003 is a popular option because it is the cheapest Omega masticating juicer. It is in fact the same as the J8005 except that they are different colors. The J8003 pictured above is white while the J8005 has a chrome and black body. There are many juicer reviews for this product online but I hope as an owner of an Omega J8006, I will be able to provide you with more useful information compared to the regurgitated product information found on many sites today. You can find the best price for this appliance  on the Omega website and Amazon. Strangely enough, there are times when the Omega site says Out of Stock! Anyway, the wise thing to do would be to check both websites to see who offers the best deal.

As you can see in the picture above, masticating juicers have three openings. The hopper at the top leads into the entry chute. Then the hole at the end of the nozzle is where the fruit and vegetable pulp is ejected from. And the hole at the bottom is where the juice comes out from. The Omega masticating juicers come with two collection containers. One is for the juice that comes out the bottom hole and the other is for the dried fruit and vegetable pulp that is ejected out of the size hole. What I love about these containers is their rounded edges. So when it comes to cleaning up, they are really easy to clean. There are no tight corners for stains and gunk to get trapped.

This juicing appliance is not cheap. But it is not outrageously expensive either. It costs a bit over $200. This is about half the price of the Green Star GS-1000 which is a twin gear juicer. Masticating juicers like the Omega J8003 only has a single auger which is the gear that turns within the appliance. These two styles of juicing appliances have many similarities. They both operate at much lower speeds than centrifugal juicers. This is thought to be beneficial for the juice that you make. Lower speeds = less heat generation = less damage to the nutrients within the juice. How true this really is, is open to debate. Perhaps it’s just a marketing ploy. Fact of the matter is that twin gear and single auger masticating juicers are better than centrifugal machines at extracting the juice from leafy green vegetables.

The Omega J8003 juicer can be used for a wide range of different food processing needs. It can actually juice wheat grass and can also do things like grind coffee, puree tomatoes, extrude pasta and make baby foods too. It comes with a range of attachments to help with these tasks. The coolest things that I do with my J8006 are make my own nut butters and frozen fruit desserts. They taste so good I wonder if they really are health foods :)
