Choosing to buy an Omega J8003 is a popular option because it is the cheapest Omega masticating juicer. It is in fact the same as the J8005 except that they are different colors. The J8003 pictured above is white while the J8005 has a chrome and black body. There are many juicer reviews for this product online but I hope as an owner of an Omega J8006, I will be able to provide you with more useful information compared to the regurgitated product information found on many sites today. You can find the best price for this appliance on the Omega website and Amazon. Strangely enough, there are times when the Omega site says Out of Stock! Anyway, the wise thing to do would be to check both websites to see who offers the best deal.
As you can see in the picture above, masticating juicers have three openings. The hopper at the top leads into the entry chute. Then the hole at the end of the nozzle is where the fruit and vegetable pulp is ejected from. And the hole at the bottom is where the juice comes out from. The Omega masticating juicers come with two collection containers. One is for the juice that comes out the bottom hole and the other is for the dried fruit and vegetable pulp that is ejected out of the size hole. What I love about these containers is their rounded edges. So when it comes to cleaning up, they are really easy to clean. There are no tight corners for stains and gunk to get trapped.
This juicing appliance is not cheap. But it is not outrageously expensive either. It costs a bit over $200. This is about half the price of the Green Star GS-1000 which is a twin gear juicer. Masticating juicers like the Omega J8003 only has a single auger which is the gear that turns within the appliance. These two styles of juicing appliances have many similarities. They both operate at much lower speeds than centrifugal juicers. This is thought to be beneficial for the juice that you make. Lower speeds = less heat generation = less damage to the nutrients within the juice. How true this really is, is open to debate. Perhaps it’s just a marketing ploy. Fact of the matter is that twin gear and single auger masticating juicers are better than centrifugal machines at extracting the juice from leafy green vegetables.
The Omega J8003 juicer can be used for a wide range of different food processing needs. It can actually juice wheat grass and can also do things like grind coffee, puree tomatoes, extrude pasta and make baby foods too. It comes with a range of attachments to help with these tasks. The coolest things that I do with my J8006 are make my own nut butters and frozen fruit desserts. They taste so good I wonder if they really are health foods
