Carrot, Orange and Ginger Juice
My juicing philosophy is to make a juice that is going to taste good. There is no arguing that green juices containing things like spinach, kale and so on are packed with nutrients and minerals but I have to be in a certain mood to drink that stuff. That’s not to say I don’t drink green juices. Of course I do. I am the Juice Fiend. But great taste and nutrition are not mutually exclusive.
Take for example a popular drink sold in juice bars all over the world, Carrot, Orange and Ginger juice. I don’t know anybody that doesn’t like this. With sweetness from the oranges, watered down earthy tones from the carrots and a ginger zing this is a great juice to have at breakfast time or to quench thirst at any time of day. It may not quite have the nutrient content of a green drink based around spinach but I don’t care. It still has plenty of goodness in there. As we learn when we are kids, carrots are rich in vitamin A and can give us X-ray vision; oranges give us plenty of vitamin C which is alleged to help us ward off colds (I believe the allegation) and ginger helps our digestive system. Moreover, this kind of natural fruit and vegetable drink is great for helping us to hydrate our body.
My recipe for Carrot, Orange and Ginger juice is:
- 2 large carrots
- 3 oranges
- chunk of ginger (approx 1.5cm³)
As with all juices you make, if these ratios don’t work for you, experiment with your own until you make this juice your own!
