Breville 800JEXL vs Omega J8006 Comparison

The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite is one of the most popular centrifugal juicers currently available. The Omega J8006 is, in my opinion, the best horizontal single auger masticating juicer on the market at present. What I am to show today is that both of these units have certain strengths. Which is the best juicer? These days, I’m more interested in masticating juicers as they help me to make the types of juice recipes that I most enjoy, green juices!

In the video above, I compare the performance of both of these machines with 4 oz. of dino kale each. As you’re able to see for yourself, the Omega J8006 is the clear winner in terms of juice yield. It is common knowledge that horizontal masticating juicers are top performers when it comes to juicing leafy green vegetables. By watching this video, you’ll be able to see just much more effective this machine is.

In the second video I demonstrate just how fast the Breville Juice Fountain Elite is, in comparison to the Omega J8006. When I first started juicing, the speed of centrifugal juicers was very appealing to me. They are very easy to operate and quick to clean up too. Perhaps I would not have got the juicing bug had I started out with a more complicated machine.

Best Juicer Under $100

Starting to make your own fruit and vegetable drinks at home doesn’t have to cost the earth. There are a whole range of juicers that are available for less than $100. Are they the best juicer you could ever hope to own? Probably not. But there are quite a few models in this price range that make a great choice if you are not yet prepared to invest in a more expensive juicer such as an Omega VRT350HD or Green Star GS-1000.

In actual fact, the juicers which I’m going to discuss below are really easy to use and any of them would make a great introductory juicing appliance which you could use daily, to improve the quality of the nutrition that you consume. Below are four juicers which all have something to offer and are available online for under $100.

Breville BJE200XL

Picture of Breville centrifugal juicer
This is the most expensive juicer in this range. In its favor though, it is made by Breville who are well known for making top quality kitchen appliances. Read my full Breville BJE200XL review to find out more about this particular unit. I bought this juicer from Amazon (in Japan) and I like it :)

In brief, it is a centrifugal juicer that spins at high speed to extract the liquid from the fruits and vegetables that you want to juice. Highlights include its wide 3″ feed chute and ease of use.

The manual that comes with this machine is pretty cool too. It has lots of juice recipes to get you started on your juicing adventure. There are even a few spirited juices, e.g. Bloody Mary,  if you want to try a healthy alcoholic drink.

Here is a link to the official Breville product manual for this particular model.

Hamilton Beach 67650 Big Mouth Pro

Hamilton Beach 67650 juicer
Check out my full Hamilton Beach 67650 review article for more details. In many respects this machine is similar to the Breville model above. They are both centrifugal juicers and both have the extra large 3″ feeder hole in the top.

Where they differ is in their price and design. The Big Mouth Pro is actually the cheapest of the two. It also has a separate pulp collection container which fits on to the back of the machine. Personally I don’t think it looks as attractive as the BJE200XL but it does offer a bit of a saving.

The Hamilton Beach homepage doesn’t offer the full product manual for this device but it might be worth checking out to compare the price of this juicer with what Amazon are offering.

Big Boss Juicer

Stainless steel cheap centrifugal juicer imageThis is a juicer that I have not actually used myself. However it caught my eye because it seems to offer great features at a really low price. This is a stainless steel juicer which is typically more expensive than plastic machines but the manufacturer has managed to keep costs right down and have released what appears to be a great value product.

Unfortunately I have been unable to locate the manufacturer’s website or any official product information. On the flip side though, this machine appears to offer two speed functionality with its high speed being 18,000 RPM which is faster than the previous two models.

This could be a real steal. But certainly do your research. There are lots of customer reviews on the Amazon website.

Tribest Citristar Electric Citrus Juicer

Electrical citrus juicerThe limitations of this juicer is that it is only good for citrus fruits. On the flip side, it is easily the best choice if you are mainly interested in making great tasting orange juice drinks on a regular basis.

This machine is made by the Tribest Corporation who produce many high end juicers, such as the Greenstar range. You can be confident that this is a high quality product.

It is an automatic juicer that works when you push some citrus fruits onto the reamer. As the reamer spins, there are two parts that are like oars which mix the pulp to help extract a high quantity of orange juice.

I use the OrangeX manual citrus juicer rather than an electrical model like this one. The OrangeX is about double the price of the Citristar but I like it’s environmental credentials (no electricity) and the fact that it can also juice pomegranates :)

You can check out some more pictures of this unit on the Tribest Citristar product description page.

View the Full Range of Stainless Steel Juicers

As you can see from the pictures above, stainless steel juicers exude quality. They are to many of us, the most attractive style of juicing appliance on the market. But is there more to these units than just looks? Are they better juicers than their plastic counterparts? These are the questions that we shall be looking at in this stainless steel juicer review.

I don’t own all of the juicers pictured above. The only one that I have is the Breville 800JEXL, which is the one in the center. I love the all stainless steel construction. It would be hard to argue that the juice tastes better but the machine does look great in the kitchen!

Benefits of this style of appliance are that you do not have to worry about discoloration that you should expect over time with plastic models. Fruits and vegetable pigment such as carrots often start to stain the internal sections of plastic units after months of use. I haven’t noticed this type of problem with my stainless steel Breville.

It is not that juicers by virtue of being made of stainless steel automatically makes them better. However, what you will find is that companies that put the effort into designing this style of machine do so with the aim of producing a premium product. So the overall effect seems to be that in general, these units are some of the best that you can buy today.

Pictured above are the Breville 800CPXL Motorized Citrus Press, the Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite 1000 Watt Juice Extractor and the Super Angel Twin Gear 5500 Juicer. Their stainless steel design is where there is commonality but they are in fact completely different types of appliances with their own particular strengths.

Breville 800CPXL Die-Cast Stainless-Steel Motorized Citrus Press

You can tell just by looking at this model that it is going to be a sturdy and dependable product. It starts automatically when the lever is closed, squeezing your itrus fruits on the juicing cone. You can vary the amount of pulp that the stainless steel filters allow into the juice. It also features a special stop spout which helps to keep your countertop free from drips. I chose the OrangeX Jupiter citrus press over this Breville model. Being about to juice pomegranates and saving electricity were the two factors that swayed me.

Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite

I have already written a detailed Breville 800JEXL review about this top of the range centrifugal juicer. It makes a great choice for anyone concerned about speed, ease of use and attractive design. I use this juicer myself and it is definitely quicker than my Omega J8006 horizontal masticating juicer at making carrot and ginger juice. I go with the Breville when I want to juice things like apples, beets, carrots and ginger and don’t want to include kale, chard or spinach, etc. The Omega J8006 is a better choice when I want to make a green juice though.

Super Angel 5500 Stainless Steel Twin Gear Juicer

This is one of the best twin gear juicers available today. When you compare it to units such as the Green Star GS-1000, most of us would agree that the Super Angel looks the more attractive of the two. However, it does come with a more expensive price tag. All its parts are made from surgical stainless steel which goes to emphasise the hygiene side of things. There are fewer separate parts to clean than other twin gear machines although it is quite tricky to remove the fruit and vegetable pulp from the screen. The Super Angel 5500 is capable of juicing literally anything, from hard vegetables such as carrots, to wheat grass to soft fruits like melons. It extracts maximum amounts of juice to leave a very dry pulp.

I love the look of this juicer but to be honest cannot justify spending almost $1,000 on a kitchen appliance. Instead, the masticating juicer I use is the cheaper Omega J8006 which is about 1/3 of the price. I’m not convinced that the Super Angel is 3* better so I think I the J8000 series from Omega offers the best value.

There is a large selection of discount stainless steel juicers on Amazon. They make a good choice if you are concerned about build quality and procedures for the safest form of food preparation.

As the Juice Fiend, I am about more than just juicers. For instance, even the best juicer is of little use if you do not have some great tasting juice recipes to make. In addition, with the number of top quality blending appliances such as a Vitamix blender that are on sale today, there is a wide range of amazing smoothie recipes for you to choose from. The beauty of drinking smoothies is that they can be as indulgent or healthy as you desire.
