Best Juicer Store

As a the Juice Fiend, I am often asked to give my opinion on the best juicer. This is something that I can talk about at length so go make yourself a cup of tea, or even better, a fruit juice or smoothie and sit down to read about what I see as the best juicers that are on the market today. This is in no way an exhaustive list, it is simply my opinion based on my own juicing experiences. Therefore there are going to be lots of juicers that I cannot talk about with too much authority. So if you feel I am missing something, please leave a comment at the end. Now, let’s get started…

It depends upon a number of factors including your own experience level, what sorts of drinks you want to make and how much you can afford to spend on a new juicing appliance. The best juicer for a beginner is not necessarily going to be the same for those of you who have been making your own fruit and vegetable juices for years.

Best Entry Level Juicer

The best juicer for a beginner in my opinion is the Breville BJE200XL. This machine is actually the best selling model on the Amazon online shopping site. If you want to get the best price Breville BJE200XL then this is a great place to look. Less than $100 for this device is a reasonable price to pay. As you may know, I spend a large part of each year in Japan. So for me to buy this juicer cost over $200! Even at that price, I still think I got a decent product.

What makes this juicer so impressive is that it is the cheapest Breville juicer. But even though it is cheap, it still has some of the features of the much more highly priced models such as the Breville 800JEXL. For example, they both have a wide entry chute. This hole is circular and is a 3″ wide hole. This is a feature of all Breville centrifugal juicers. They also spin very quickly. The BJE200XL has a speed of 13,000 RPM. Within a matter of seconds, it can turn your solid fruit and vegetable ingredients into a highly nutritious juice. As you can see in the picture above, it comes with a jug to collect your juice that is at the correct height to catch the liquid as it comes out of the machine without spilling a drop.

So as a machine for people new to the juicing lifestyle, this one makes a great choice. It is very easy to use. And it is fast. This is why many of us like centrifugal juicers.

• Easy to use
• Some models are low cost
• Great machine to begin juicing with
• Very good at juicing hard fruits and vegetables, e.g. carrots, apples, etc

Weak points:

• Fast speeds may cause heat transfer to juice that is extracted (don’t worry about this too much)
• Does not juice leafy green vegetables very well
• Cannot juice wheat grass

Best Masticating Juicer

Choosing the best masticating juicer is a hard decision. Best really comes down to a personal preference between horizontal (e.g. Omega J8003) and vertical ( e.g. Omega VRT350HD) style models. I personally prefer the horizontal style because they suit my own needs better. Therefore I suggest the Omega J8006. That said, it does depend upon the types of things that you want to make. As an all round juicer, a vertical style unit may be a better bet. However, for green juice lovers (like me ) or for those of you who want the extra food processing capabilities of the J8006 Nutrition Center (e.g. home made peanut butter), the horizontal style of unit is one to pick.

It may not be so obvious from the pictures, however many centrifugal juicers like the Breville BJE200XL pictured above have a very wide hole to feed in fruit and vegetables. But the diameter of the tube going down into masticating juicers is narrower. Therefore we do not get the same throughput and therefore juicing takes longer. Now this is something that most people who choose to get a masticating machine are aware of. The benefit to this type of machine is that it is argued that the juice that they produce is more nutritious than that from centrifugal machines.

The Omega J8006 pictured above has an attractive chrome and black body. It also comes with a 15 year warranty. In addition, its auger (the part that does the juicing) is made of a special plastic called GE Ultem. This is a highly durable material which makes this juicer usable in commercial juice bars. Of course, it makes a great home juicer too. One other thing that is great about masticating juicers in general is that you can use them to make wheat grass juice too.

Weak points:

• Must chop up ingredients into thin strips
• Takes a bit of time to prepare fruit and vegetables and turn them into juice
• Pretty poor at juicing soft fruits (takes a long time)

Best Twin Gear Juicer

For the best twin gear juicer, I am going to recommend the Green Star GS-1000. This is because I feel that it is a very good value product. Twin gear juicers are rather expensive and even though this model is the cheapest in the Green Star range, it costs over $400.

This style of juicer looks similar to the masticating machines. In many ways, they are. But the actual juicing action is different. With twin gear machines, the produce that you feed into the machine is crushed between two gears that rotate in opposing directions. The gears are not quite touching so there is a small gap for fruit and vegetables to be squeezed through. This is when the juice is extracted. The reason that twin gear juicers are held in such high regard is that they are able to extract the most amount of juice from a certain quantity of fresh fruit and vegetables than any other type of juicer. This machine comes with other attachments so it can do more than just juice. Why not make frozen deserts, extrude pasta or make your own baby foods?

Best Centrifugal Juicer

As the best centrifugal juicer I have chosen what I think is the most attractive Breville juicer, the Breville 800JEXL. It combines both style and substance. If you are looking for a machine that is easy to use and also works very quickly and efficiently, this could well be the right machine for you. There is nothing wrong with having more than one juicer. Indeed for people going on juice fasts, having a unit that can make large quantities of juice quickly is beneficial.

It is really the design of the Breville 800JEXL that makes it such an attractive choice. Externally it looks amazing. Its functions are impressive too. It has a dual speed option. Therefore depending upon the sorts of fruits and vegetables that you want to juice, you choose either the fast or slow setting. This helps to extract the most juice with the least amount of froth. The entry hole at the top is 3″ across, the same size as the Breville BJe200XL model mentioned above.

Best Juicer Conclusion

The fruit and vegetables that you want to extract the juice from will determine to a large extent which is the best juicer for you. For example if you require a machine that can juice wheat grass as well as make drinks from all sorts of other fruits and vegetables then you should choose a masticating juicer. If speed and ease of use are your primary concerns then a centrifugal juicer would be best. Finally, to extract the highest quantity of liquid from the produce that you use and also the most nutritious juice then a twin gear juicer is the right choice. Choosing a juicer has a lot to do with the juice recipes that you want to create.

For me, the versatility of the Omega J8006 is what makes it my favorite juicer. It does take longer than making a drink with a centrifugal juicer though. So if I’m not making a green juice, I often use a centrifugal machine for the convenience.
