Omega J8003 Review

Choosing to buy an Omega J8003 is a popular option because it is the cheapest Omega masticating juicer. It is in fact the same as the J8005 except that they are different colors. The J8003 pictured above is white while the J8005 has a chrome and black body. There are many juicer reviews for this product online but I hope as an owner of an Omega J8006, I will be able to provide you with more useful information compared to the regurgitated product information found on many sites today. You can find the best price for this appliance  on the Omega website and Amazon. Strangely enough, there are times when the Omega site says Out of Stock! Anyway, the wise thing to do would be to check both websites to see who offers the best deal.

As you can see in the picture above, masticating juicers have three openings. The hopper at the top leads into the entry chute. Then the hole at the end of the nozzle is where the fruit and vegetable pulp is ejected from. And the hole at the bottom is where the juice comes out from. The Omega masticating juicers come with two collection containers. One is for the juice that comes out the bottom hole and the other is for the dried fruit and vegetable pulp that is ejected out of the size hole. What I love about these containers is their rounded edges. So when it comes to cleaning up, they are really easy to clean. There are no tight corners for stains and gunk to get trapped.

This juicing appliance is not cheap. But it is not outrageously expensive either. It costs a bit over $200. This is about half the price of the Green Star GS-1000 which is a twin gear juicer. Masticating juicers like the Omega J8003 only has a single auger which is the gear that turns within the appliance. These two styles of juicing appliances have many similarities. They both operate at much lower speeds than centrifugal juicers. This is thought to be beneficial for the juice that you make. Lower speeds = less heat generation = less damage to the nutrients within the juice. How true this really is, is open to debate. Perhaps it’s just a marketing ploy. Fact of the matter is that twin gear and single auger masticating juicers are better than centrifugal machines at extracting the juice from leafy green vegetables.

The Omega J8003 juicer can be used for a wide range of different food processing needs. It can actually juice wheat grass and can also do things like grind coffee, puree tomatoes, extrude pasta and make baby foods too. It comes with a range of attachments to help with these tasks. The coolest things that I do with my J8006 are make my own nut butters and frozen fruit desserts. They taste so good I wonder if they really are health foods :)

As an owner of an Omega J8006 juicer, I know exactly how these two units work. When you look at these two juicers you can see that they have the same design but are completely different colors. This is the only difference between them. When you compare the price of the Omega J8003 and the Omega J8005 it is the chrome and black J8005 that is slightly more expensive. As far as they way they work, they are the same. In fact the instruction manual that comes with these juicers is identical. All of the other attachments that they have to extrude pasta and so on are also the same. So choosing which machine to get really comes down to which one would look better in your kitchen. While the price of the white J8003 is slightly less, it still costs over $200 so it is not exactly a budget juicer. So for most of you considering one of these masticating juicers, I assume that the price difference is unlikely to be the deciding factor. You can read plenty of juicer reviews on this site for lower priced machines if you are looking for a budget juicer.

Omega juicers have a good reputation for being sold masticating style appliances. The other brand you may want to consider if you have decided to go with this type is a Champion juicer. Both of these brands are single gear juicers. Masticating style machines operate at much slower speeds than centrifugal juicers as do twin gear devices. But typically, Omega and Champion juicers are cheaper than twin gear appliances such as Green Star. So you get the benefit of lower speeds without the much larger initial cost. The reason why many people feel that slower juicing is beneficial is because there is less heat transferred to the juice that is produced. When the temperature increases, this results in more damage to the nutrients that the juice contains. So it is better for the juice and therefore for our bodies if it does not warm up.

I hope this Omega juicer review has been of use. If you want to find the lowest price for an Omega J8003 or J8005 you should compare prices on Amazon. They are well known for their low prices across a wide range of kitchen appliances and products. What I like about the Omega machines is that they come with two containers. One is for the juice and the other is to collect the pulp that is ejected from the machine. There are a host of other attachments that you get too. So it comes with everything you need to start juicing, except of course, fruit and vegetables.

You should remember that these machines can do much more than just making drinks. I regularly use mine to make nut butters, coconut cream and amazing frozen fruit sorbet/ice creams.

Breville BJE510XL

Breville BJE510XL Ikon 900-Watt Variable-Speed Juice Extractor

Breville BJE510XL Review

Just from looking at this juicer you can tell that it is a premium product. Breville are known for their high quality product design and it certainly shows on this Ikon juicer. The stainless steel body looks very impressive. This is one of the reasons why choosing to buy this machine is now such a popular choice. You can find the Breville BJE510XL best price on Amazon. Click here to view the latest price. I don’t actually own this model however I do have the Breville BJE200XL and the Breville 800JEXL so am pretty experienced with Breville centrifugal juicers :)

This juicer is more expensive than the BJE200XL and the JE98XL models. But the question you should be asking is, is it worth the extra money? For some people, the answer is undoubtedly, yes. What sets this machine apart from every other Breville juicer, even the more expensive 800JEXL is that it has five separate speed settings. This gives you the most control out of all Breville juicers as to exactly how fast the central cylinder spins. This is useful because you can vary the speed depending upon the type of produce that you are feeding into the machine. For example, apples and carrots would use a high speed while softer fruits like melon or leafy green vegetables could be juiced at a lower speed. This helps extract more juice as well as produce less froth. Inside the BJE510XL is a 900 watt electrical motor and the speed settings, 1 through 5, spin at speeds of 6,500 RPM up to 12,000 RPM.

The separate pulp collector is a useful feature as it means that getting rid of your pulp after you have made your juice is really easy. All you have to do is detach it and throw the pulp in the bin or use it for compost. I tend to use my pulp for compost coz I’m an environmental sort of guy. Breville suggest you put a plastic bag inside the pulp collector so that the pulp goes straight in making it even easier to throw away. But for those of you concerned about the environment, this option may be a little less appealing.

If you are asking where can I buy a Breville BJE510XL? then the cheapest place I’ve found to purchase one is through the online retailer Amazon. They offer the best prices on a wide range of juicing appliances. Before you make your final decision about which juicer to buy you should compare prices to confirm that you are getting the best deal. Funnily enough, Amazon often have a lower price than the official Breville homepage!

Knowing what I know now, if I didn’t have either the Breville BJE200XL or the 800JEXL, I would go for the BJE510XL. It’s cheaper than the stainless steel juicer and it comes with even more speed control. Admittedly the stainless steel design of the 800JEXL looks great but I’m more about functionality than vanity ;)

As the Juice Fiend, I am about more than just juicers. For instance, even the best juicer is of little use if you do not have some great tasting juice recipes to make. In addition, with the number of top quality blending appliances such as a Vitamix blender that are on sale today, there is a wide range of amazing smoothie recipes for you to choose from. The beauty of drinking smoothies is that they can be as indulgent or healthy as you desire.
