As you can see in my video, this is a super fast juicer. Where you might have reservations about this machine though is the amount of froth is creates and its performance at juicing leafy green vegetables. It has to be said though that its speed is sensational and it’s really easy to operate.

The Breville 800JEXL Juice Fountain Elite is one of my favorite centrifugal juicers. I use this juicer when I want to make drinks from hard fruit and vegetables. It’s great for juice recipes like carrot, apple and ginger although it doesn’t deal with leafy greens as well as my Omega J8006 masticating juicer. It’s an efficient juicer as well as being a very stylish appliance. In this review I’ll outline the features of the machine and then discuss why I like it so much.

It is a 1000 watt juicing machine which is 300 watts more power than the Breville BJE200XL juicer. The 800JEXL also offers two speed settings, 13,000 RPM and 6,500 RPM. However as you can read about in my Breville BJE200XL juicer review, that machine only has one speed setting, 13,000 RPM. Higher speeds are one factor in increasing juice extraction. Many juice connoisseurs argue that juicer speed => increased heat => oxidation and damage to the nutrients within your juice. This is not something I spend much time worrying about. The bottom line is that juices created using centrifugal juicers are packed full of goodness.

The 800JEXL juicer does have other features that help it to extract juice from fruit and vegetables efficiently. For example, 115 individual knives ensure that your ingredients are shredded into the smallest pieces to allow for more juice extraction. The machine with its stainless steel body looks great too. For many people, this is the best juicer that Breville produce.

It has a large circular feeder tube which is big enough to allow whole fruits and vegetables to be fed into the machine. The beauty of this is that it saves time chopping up fruit and vegetables every time you juice. The Breville 800JEXL juicer also comes with a juicing pitcher as well as a recipe book to give you a variety of juicing ideas to get you started.

This Breville juicer operates very quickly. In general, centrifugal juicers are the fastest kind of machines. They also have the potential to produce a layer of froth on the top of your juice. Fortunately the 800JEXL includes a froth catcher to help reduce this concern. The fact that it juices fruit and vegetables so quickly is an obvious plus. This is the juicer that I choose to use if I want to make drinks like carrot and ginger juice or apple, beet, celery and cucumber. Basically, as long as the ingredients are pretty chunky, i.e. NOT leafy greens, then it will do a great job…and do it QUICKLY!

My mother loves drinking juices that I make for her in my Omega J8006 but she actually uses a Breville 800JEXL herself. So while, personally, this isn’t my all time favorite juicer, I can see the attraction of this kind of speedy centrifugal juicer.

The Green Star GS1000 juicer is for people who are serious about juicing. Even though it is one of the cheaper Green Star models it is much more expensive than centrifugal and masticating juicers. This machine is a twin gear juice extractor which typically cost the most.

So is spending hundreds of dollars on one of these machines a good idea? This review will discuss what the GS-1000 can do. Whether this machine is right for you is a personal decision you will have to make. For round about the same price, you could buy a Breville BJE200XL centrifugal juicer and an Omega J8006 masticating juicer.

Veteran juice makers, like myself, often tend to prefer this kind of machine. Especially if you want to juice leafy greens. The GS-1000 is a great choice for people that want to regularly juice things like spinach and kale. Part of the sales pitch for these machines is that they operate at slower speeds than both centrifugal (e.g. Breville BJE200XL review) and masticating juicers. This is said to cause less oxidation which means you should be able to ingest more of the nutrients of the fruit and vegetables that you juice. While this arguement seems reasonable, how do we really know? What impresses me about this machine is not the lack of nutrient oxidation but rather the juice yield that you get. Another plus point for the Green Star GS-1000 is that it can be used to juice wheatgrass. This means that you do not need a specialized wheatgrass only juicer.

The down side to twin gear juicers is that they have more parts than other cheaper machines. This means that assembly, disassembly and cleaning will all take longer. A further drawback is the cost. This machine typically costs over $400 USD.

For those who want to juice harder vegetables such as carrots as well as make fruit juices, a cheaper centrifugal or masticating juicer may be a better option. However for serious juice makers who are keen to make lots of green juices from leafy greens, a twin gear juicer such as the Green Star GS-1000 may be the best option.
